New TB hospital opens in Lesok
Tetovo, October 19 (MIA) - Health Minister Imer Selmani and Ambassador of Kingdom of Norway to Macedonia Carl Wibye formally put into operation special hospital for pulmonary diseases and TB in Lesok on Friday.
"Through program NORWAC, Norway donated Euro 610,000 for the construction of the new hospital. Moreover, the Macedonian Orthodox Church has granted the lot for construction of the new hospital. Tetovo a town with most TB patients in the country. About 600 new tuberculosis cases are annually registered in Macedonia", stressed Health Minister Selmani.
The new building has 45 beds, including a laboratory with a spirometry cabinet, X-ray cabinet, bronchoscopy cabinet, department on allergy tests and a pharmacy.
Norwegian Ambassador Wibye stated that his country has allocated Euro six million for realization of about 40 projects in Macedonia, while the fruitful cooperation would also resume in the future.
"Through our assistance, we want to contribute to the strengthening of EU-Macedonia ties", added Ambassador Wibye.
Afterwards, Ambassador Wibye paid a visit to local elementary school "Kiril Pejcinovic" in Lesok, where the Kingdom of Norway donated Denar five million for a new school building.
Since 2004, the Norwegian Government has invested over Euro two million for reconstruction and construction of more than 32 schools at the entire territory of Macedonia. ik/fd/16:22
